Every so often someone starts a thread asking about stores in a location in Germany by requesting information about this or that. A response is normally posted and then forgotten until the next member asks the same question and the cycle restarts.

Rather than repeat the cycle, it might be a lot easier to start a sticky thread that stays at the top of the Trading Post Section and information can added, This would help with the problem of finding stores in Koeln, Koblenz, etc. etc. and prevent the need to duplicate the same request but it would allow the information to be updated as stores close and open.

We can include internet stores, favourite EBay sellers and, of course, those sellers that do not deserve our custom.

I will mark this thread as sticky and will attempt to populate it with information whenever. Please, if you update the list, use the SUBJECT HEADING to indicate the location of the store, otherwise I will delete.

It does means that I will either move or delete any further duplicated threads but surely having the information in one recognisable place will be a benefit to everyone?

As far as Cologne is concerned...
The one you mentioned "off the Severinsstr." is Lindberg. I go there also and am very satisfied.
http://www.lindenberg-modellbahn-koeln.de/reibung/wegbeschreibung.html
Also the Modellbahnecke on the Luxemburgerstrasse is good.
http://www.modellbahnecke-koeln.de/
And there's also the Modellparadies on the Aachener Strasse
http://www.modellparadies-koeln.de/laden.php

It's worth dropping into Modellbahnland Bonn-Rhein Sieg in Bonn, right next to Cologne. They have a very large shop with lots on display and seem to know what they're talking about. You can usually park in one of the side streets just nearby.

Their website is at www.modellbahnland.de

If you have a car, you can reach Hilden (east of Düsseldorf IIRC) in less than an hour - it contains one of the best shops I've dealt with (both in person and by internet): Modellbahnladen Hilden. (You often see it listed by the owner's name - Kramm).

I've not dealt with Matschke in Wuppertal, but they also come highly recommended from one of my closest friends in the hobby.

Lindenberg Blaubach 6-8 Koeln

Fachgeschaeft Gerhard Hartkorn GmbH 56068 Koblenz

1. Löhrstraße 109

2. Schloßsytraße 38

In Dusseldorf:

about 50 m away- Luetgenau

Two stores that provide an excellent selection:

Ritzer in Nuremberg: http://www.modellbahn-ritzer.de/
They have a large selection of used equipment and some good bargains. Because of the amount of stock, the store is a bit of a rabbit warren but well worth exploring.

Rainer in Innsbruck: http://www.modellbahn.at/
Large store, very comprehensive selection in stock. New only but some good special offers always on show at the front of the shop. Located at amraserstrasse 73 which is a good 10 minutes walk from the main station.

Just a small addition to the lindenburg shop on Koeln, they also have a second hand shop just round the corner.

Another good shop in the area is Hunerbien in Aachen. Very good and easy to find with a multi story car park just a few mins walk away.

I would second that. I've dealt with them for the last seven years and had no real problems at all.

As far as internet stores go with me,

It is Eurolokshop.com in N.Y., first. Eurorailhobbies.com second, Rocousa.com third, and Reynaulds.com fourth. Rocousa does not have as much as they once did, i.e., Fleischmann.

Modelbahn-Kramm is also in the top. They are near Dusseldorf. They have lots of items in stock and their prices are very fair. They also speak English very well.

The three main ones in munich are

Gleis 11, is on the main station, south side along a platform
The is a toy store in Karlsplatz which has/had a good selection
Another one is on sonnen str, but has bizzare opening hours, takes cash only and boy does he have a heavy bravarian accent. At karlsplatz head down sonnen str on the right hand side, the shop is in an arcade.
There is another one somewhere near the centre that sells high end and rare stuff, dont ask me the address, I've been a few times, but kept finding only by accident. From memory head down to the vitualmarkt and turn right.
A few others exist outside the city centre with a good one I'm told at the Olyimpia shopping centre (OEZ) and another somewhere on landsburger str

Freiburg, is on Bernard str, closed lunch times, ok selection. Its outside the old town. Worth a look, not worth a detour.

A hint to find stores, go to a website of a main company, ie veismann, and check out their dealer lists for exact address.

Karlsplatz however everyone knows it as Stachus. The toystore is on the corner of the shops on the south side of Stachus, a few doors from MacDonalds and almost next to a good bookshop. However this is a toy store not a specialist.

Better model railways stores in and around Munich:

Wagner Modellbahn (the high end one) Sendlinger Straße 01, is just behind Marienplatz and on the corner of Rindermarkt and Rosenstrasse, the guy speaks excellent English.

Caesar at the Ostbahnof, turn left after exiting the Ostbahnhof and walk south along Orleanstrasse. This is a good model shop and worth the short journey from the centre

Engineer Brown On Landsbergerstrasse to the west of the famous Hackerbrucke. Another good model shop

Hoedl In Germering, an the outlying suburb, to the west of Munich but on the S-Bahn and easily accessible. Another good shop.

BTW, the bookshop at the Deutsches Museum is no longer the best place to find railway books. They have replaced good quality books with 'inter-activity' products and tacky retro-tinplate toys.

I'd forgotten about the one near the ostbahnhof. It is one of the best shops in munich tho' a bit small. The toyshop at stachaus/karlsplatz, while it is just a toy shop with no advice it does have a good selection and its very handy for the city centre since the other shop near marienplatz closed down, now that was a good store.

My personal favourites from Germany are the following:

http://www.lokstueberl.de <-- very friendly and swift service

http://schmidt-wissen.de/ <-- very well stocked and reliable, though a bit taciturn when it comes to replying to e-mails

http://modelleisenbahn.com <-- also very well stocked and friendly

http://www.puerner.de <-- likewise

http://www.krefelder-lokschuppen.de <-- good shop all around

Mainly for Tim -
I notice Rainer (www.modellbahn.at) in Innsbruck have some interesting offers on at the moment. For Tim they have the Roco 63363 which is an interesting loco and may fit into one of his time frames.

This is actually an Ep 3a model, of 18 411, which was a Hof engine when withdrawn in the early 50s. I reckon the price of 160Euro (inc Mwst) is probably pretty good. It's probably the recent Roco 'mixed-drive' system and from the picture of it on Frits's site it looks excellent.
Would definitely have been a regular in the Pegnitzal. I think I am going to get one, I'll renumber it to 18 477 which was a Lindau loco when withdrawn in the mid 50s.
Cheers

Phil

I recently scooped up a Fleischmann BR18.6 at less than 25% of the current list price, this will be my only BR18 to run within my late 50's timeframe.

Thanks for letting me know.

Tim

Die Eisenbahn
Ulrich Weber
Obere Königstrasse 48

Check before you go, he always seems to be closed.

Anybody know any shops in dresden.

I'm off to germany next week to stay near Nuremberg so a trip to Ritzer will be in order, and I have found out we are being taken to dresden too.

I was very impressed with Lokpavillion Dresden's store, right next to Hauptbahnhof. Prices are not the cheapest, but seemed below RRP, and the breadth of range was superb. I was taken to a store in Nuremberg that was small and crammed with cardboard cartons, but he was competetive on prices and had some harder to find bits such as LS Models.

I also found a good store in Leipzig, Modellbahn Bertram on Eisenbahnstrasse. Three or four stops on the tram from Hauptbahnhof, they had a selection of loco number plates for sale as well.

I used both the following stores in Baden-Wuerttemberg:

Stuttgart: McSchueler's Train Shop http://www.mcschueler.de/

Pforzheim: Modellbahn Seyfried http://www.modellbahn-seyfried.de/
