Two small N scale layoutsHello to all on the forum from a new member. I must confess to not being primarily a modeller of German railways, but I do have two small N scale layouts.
The first 'Altgarten' is a fairly conventional branch terminus layout, except that it is not wired for two rail current collection.

The layout plays host, exclusively, to pantograph equipped electric locomotives taking power from the overhead wire. Facilities include a small goods shed and yard served by a siding in front of the chalet style station building.
The second model, 'Schläfrigetal', is far from conventional, and is seen in this photo sitting on top of a OO scale layout.

It is a small diorama with a single track line crossing a river bridge. The train, a single VT135 railcar shuttles back and forth powered by a length of fishing line. This method of propulsion has also been used in OO9 and Gn15 scales to create small dioramas that can be exhibited anywhere, even when no power supply is available, which is useful at village fetes and toyfairs as well as for providing secondary exhibits at model railway shows.
