Train Plans
Hi Everyone,
I have been reading the Miba report ZUGBILDUNG 3 and have a generic question concerning the train plans.
D125 Lindau – Leipzig (page 57)
1 Pw 4u 126 Lindau - Leipzig 126 515
1 C 4u 126 Nurnberg – Leipzig 126 514
1 ABC 4u 25 Zurich – Leipzig 126 402
1 WL 126 Zurich – Leipzig 126 402
1 C 4u 126 Eaalfelb – Leipzig 126 208
Some of it I can work out (i.e. 350 t is the total maximum weight of the train? and the wagon types) but what do the numbers 126, 515, 514, 402, 208 mean?
Cheers
John
John,
I have always thought that these numbers were from other trains that the coaches travelled in, prior to reaching their final destination?
But I think Jurgen can blow this theory out the water or not?
David
Well, it's unclear if the format from the MIBA report is identical to the book I have, if it is, this what I understand:
There's usually a prefix column for labelling footnotes, then the waggon type.
The first column after the waggon type is labled "Ortungsnummer"; that's order number or sequence number; I expect that that is related to some filing system. I haven't found anything that it corresponds to in my documentation so far.
Then there's the "Wagenlauf", coach route. Items in brackets before the first location or after the second are ultimate start or end points on other trains, and indicate the waggon is a Kurswagen.
The two numbers after the start and end points of the run are "aus Zug" and "in Zug"; so, the previous train the coach ran in and the next one it is to be used in.
Then there are three other columns not mentioned above. The first is "Wagen stellt", the BD supplying the coach. Then there are two more numbers; the first is the "Nr. des Zp Au", Umlaufnumber from the Umlaufplan book; the second is "Nr. des EWP", which I am also unclear about.
I hope this helps a little.
Jurgen
John!
There are two key plans: The Reihungsplan (that shows the order of the cars in each train) and the Umlaufplan (that shows how each set of cars circulates from train to train).
On most of the Reihungpläne (car order plans) in "Zugbildung 3" they have left off the column headings, but if you look on p. 31 you can see them.
Your plan on p. 57 decoded:
D125 from Nürnberg on carries 1. thru 3. class and has max 350t
D125 has one each of five different cars over this run.
The Pw4ü has come from 126, runs Lindau-Leipzig, goes over to 126, and is described in Umlaufplan (circulation plan) 515.
Similarly for the C4ü, the ABC4ü+WR4ü set and the other C4ü (picked up in Saalfeld apparently).
Note that both the ABC4ü and the WL<4ü> follow circulation plan 402 - they are a (fairly typical overnight) Kurswagen set.
"Zugbildung 3" shows very few actual Umlaufspläne (circulation plans). There are a couple on pp. 15-16 (you can see the connection to a Reihungsplan on p. 17). Another Umlaufplan is on p. 70 and one on p.86.
...hope this helps!
Hi Guys,
Many thanks.
All is now clear.
However with the example I gave it makes a number of references to train 126. So my question is where did that run to and from?
As an aside was there any logic to the numbering plan, ie all train east even numbers all trains west odd numbers, or were they just random?
Cheers
John
I would imagine 126 was the return run of 125, thus from Leipzig to Lindau. That would mean the coaches arriving on 125 which were routed on 126 would just go back the way they came and then repeat the cycle.
In my schedules it looks like southbound or eastbound trains got the even numbers.
