Roco Rheingold/Rheinpfeil TEE set
I just received my new Roco TEE dome set. I have to say the dome and Buckelspeisewagen are works of art. I've never seen such a nice recreation of the dome on a TEE coach; photos on the web can only hint at how nice it is. I'm most impressed with the way the mullions are rendered with brass chrome; others have consistently just cast the whole thing in clear plastic, mullions and all. The glass itself is a subtle smoked grey brown. The finish on all the coaches is beautiful. I can't see any flaws in the assembly or painting. The lettering is sharp and clean, in all the appropriate colours, including the gold "Deutsche Bundesbahn" on the domecar side. I'm especially happy that the dome is the four-panel dome with Deutsche Bundesbahn instead of Rheingold, since I intend to use it to model the Rheinpfeil; as they came, they are perfect for that application. The train routing on the destination boards even says "München-Hoek van Holland", Munich being the Rheinpfeil's terminus. If anyone is on the fence about buying these coaches, I can heartily recommend them. Jurgen

Jurgen, Congratulations, you sound over the moon with this set. What are the other two cars like? I am looking to extend my Ade set with two corridor coaches. Where did you buy them? David

Hi David: I got mine from Eurorail Hobbies and More in British Columbia. I usually put in an order for all the new items I want to get the preorder discount. Unfortunately, the piecemeal shipping gets you in the end with all the postage. The two other coaches are matching quality. I also checked them against my Ade coach and can't really see much of a mismatch to speak of. My older Roco Aüm's match up fine, too. I have the other pair available separately as well, so I have 6 cars for now. I'm hoping there will be other releases in the near future, since I'm looking to build a second train (der Blauer Enzian), so I'd like seconds (and thirds, and fourths...) The only thing I still need is a WR4ümh-64 and a bar coach for the Blauer Enzian. I may have to see if I can score a couple of Ade's there. Jurgen
