Made in Germany
I really wonder how many models are 100% made in Germany. Back in the 90s when I first bought my first minitrix trains, 'made in west Germany' was printed on nearly every model.
Now that Trix has been taken over and their production has been moved to China, as I have heard. But interestingly, the country of origin seems to disappear on every model, be it HO or N.
Fleischmann claims to manufacture models in Germany. Yes, they said so on their packaging. But nowhere on my recently-purchased HO scale E19 can I find "Made in Germany". Does it imply that even Fleischmann has moved their production line to somewhere else?
Made in Germany
Chris,
To my knowledge, FLeischmann is still made in Germany. Unless there is something going on behind the scenes they haven't told anyone about, they are still being produced in Germany. Like Roco, however, some of their pieces are made in Slovakia, and this could be true of other manufacturers as they do everything to keep costs down, like American companies do.

Does it matter where the items are made?
If it looks good, runs well, and your dealer can sort any problems, is that not the main thing?
John
I know all it matters is the quality control, not where they are made.
But I just feel the model is more value for money if it is "Made in Germany"!
