Limping loco!
I have a Guetzold BR106 which is a nice powerful, torquey loco. It does however have a slightly troubling trait in that at a particular point in the wheel rotation there is a momentary jerk that also causes what sounds like a slight 'thud' on the track. Whilst running at moderate speed, is gives a noticable bumping sound like a wheelflat on the real thing. I've checked the quartering of the drivers and they seem OK. Currently my attention is focussing on the jackshaft but I wondered if anyone else has experienced this problem on a 106 or similar type. Dave.

Dave, Yes I have - it's probably a split gear on (one or both of) the driven wheels. Infortunately not an uncommon problem with the earlier white nylon gears they used. In my case I'll treat it as an opportunity and fit the newer driven wheel sets without traction tyres. Worth trying a Guetzold dealer for the parts - however you look at it, it's a quality issue. Thanks Steph. My friend has one which serves in the office of a 'christmas tree, yielding spares. I may have another job for it! Dave.
