Kbaystsb Freight Exchange wagen
Hello all;
I have questions concerning available wagons for realistic modelling of a branch line in the Bavarian Forest.
Dirk Wenzel wrote in a separate post:
Long before the founding of the 'Deutsche Staatswagenverband' in 1909 there was an intensive exchange of freight cars between the German railway societies, la-*test*-('") since the 1870-1880 the freight cars of each German railway were also rolling on the tracks of the other German railway societies. This freight cars were also coming to the stations of the smallest branch lines! And also la-*test*-('") from the 1870ies you could find foreign freigt cars, like from Austria-Hungary i.e. in Bavaria ( I know a picture from about 1875 with an Austrian-Hungarian freight car in Rosenheim)
In the first years of exchange freight cars have to be brought empty back after unloading at a station of another railway company, but that didn't last long.
- modelling about 1900 - 1910 you can/you should use on K.Bay.Sts.B.-tracks minimum 30 -40 % freight cars of other German railway companies and some of other countries like Austria-Hungary, Swiss, Italy and so on. Most are the Prussian because Prussia had the most freight cars within the German Kaiserreich, several 100 000s, K.Bay.Sts.B. only several 10 000s. And because the freight cars rolling stock get more and more mixed on the German tracks by exchange within the years the Prussian freight cars could be find in a high contingent everywhere in Germany (that also means in Prussia the contingent of the non-Prussian freight cars was very low, because 80-90% of the rolling stock in Germany were of the Prussian railways)
- After 1909 also a contingent of minimum 40 -50% of non-Bavarian freight cars can/should be used on the Bavarian model tracks, the founding of the common German freight car pool was just a climax in the decades lasting history regarding the freight car exchange within Germany. 1909 the cooperation just was further refined with more standardization of the freight cars, concerning their design, livery, lettering design/principals, the way of billing, questions of repairs/maintenance, and so on.
My branch line is dated at 1910 and receives Limestone, Potash, Coal and bags of chemicals. The chemicals would arrive from Saxony in bags, possibly in a Saxon Covered Wagon. These appear to be available in HO.
Coal could be shipped in a KPEV open wagon. Who makes such a model?
Limestone and Potash should be in a covered top loading flat car. I can not find an available model in EPOCH I for any German state. Potash could arrive from Bohemia (KKSTB?) but limestone would be from Bavaria. Any ideas for a model of a covered wagon of the era?

Re: Kbaystsb Freight Exchange wagen
Now you have to choose where your goods came from, then to find the cars
.
I believe it works better to find the cars and assume they were the low bidder!
I believe that Potash was also shipped in from Bohemia (Austria-Hungary). However, these wagons are harder to find.
For transport out of the branch lines, do empty exchange wagons arrive or would the items only be shipped on KBayStsB wagons? I am considering bottles, pulp and logs.
