Kadees on n gauge stock
Hi,
Has anyone tried fitting Kadees to n gauge steam? I would like to do some form of a small shunting yard and it would be easier using Kadees.
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks
Mark :)
Mark,
Rather than Kadees (which may not available for N-gauge anyway) have you seen the MicroTrains couplers? They seem to get good reviews, though I've no experience of using them myself as I'm an inveterate HO-er...

In the 90's Kadee was split up into two independent companies:
Kadee for te H0 and larger scales
Microtrains for the N ( H0n3) and smaller scales.
I use microtrains kadee's successfully on my H0e feldbahn material.
See one of the narrowgauge loco photo's in Jacq's layout as seen by the public 1 .
Try to get the assembled version and not the kits as you need a watchmakers licence to assemble them functionally.
check via one of the searchmachines or go direct to the website.

Mark,
Some people use the Z scale Microtrain couplers on the front of steam locomotives. They look a little better and I'm told will couple to the N scale
Microtrain couplers.
Boyce,
Is that because N scale couplers look out of scale, and z scale ones look correct?
John
John,
I think it has more to do with the problem of mounting couplers on the pilots of steam locs.
Thanks for the info!
Hi,
Thanks for the info on couplers.
My next question is how do I get hold of the Z scale Microtrain couplers in the UK?
Thanks
Mark
Mark,
I would suggest that you look for a shop that sells American outline stock in reasonable quantities, they are bound to have them.
The Continental Modeller may be worth getting just to get a list of UK Advertisers.
