John,
I believe that your efforts are worth every drop of blood, sweat, and/or tears (hopefully very few of the last, unless they are the tears of joy!! :) ).
The young missy does certainly appear to be joyful in the pictures. (and was that Percy I saw on loan to the DRG?) :o
Deep cleansing breaths...a mantra of your choice....and one step at a time.
Beautiful work, John, beautiful work.
Peace,
Jim
Hi Jim,
Yes there is a Percy and a Thomas that run around the layout.
I prefer the DRG stock, but pander to my two girls wishes to have other "more well known" trains running on my layout.
One day they will surprise me and say "dad can we have a german express train running on the layout?"
The things we do as parents.
John
Who also hopes one day the family will meet me at the airport after I have been away for business!
John,
There is some 'motivation' also. :) Yes we do things for the young ones that we may never have imagined, but I would not trade it now, even as mine are grown and (mostly) on their own.
I also traveled on business a lot, and I remember the first time they met me at the airport - the four of them nearly knocked me over! And it was disappointing that I would not let them ride on the baggage (thingie that goes around - now why can I not remember the name of that thingie?) - they said "But we'll be right back! It just goes through those flaps!") Oy!
Anyway, model railroading is a joy :D as is the parenting!
Another trick I have used - I just sit and look at my layout (such as it is - the plywoodbahn) - perhaps I have a dish of tea (Earl Grey, hot) and I may not even be running anything, but I feel that I am there. I have found that to be refreshing of spirit.
Jim
Ahah!
The Baggage Carousel :!: - but I still did not let the kids ride it!
And yes, they will surprise you. I hope you are being refreshed in your fun-tasks on the railway!
Jim
Just a quick update.
Having just got back from Sydney a couple of hours ago (12:45am!), the brawa class 57.4 was sitting on the table.
I have had a quick play, am very happy with it. I may be able to take some pictures of it later today (its 2:30am now) so really need to go bed.
John
