part 4 to follow

John Woodall- 07-11-2007

Jacq, Does the catenary extend over the entire layout, or just at one end? I presume that you are using the finest Sommerfeldt wire? Cheers John

Jacq Damen- 07-11-2007

John, mast are from Viessmann and the catenary wiring is handmade from 0,25mm steel wire with 0,2mm hangers. All soldered in a simple jig made from plywood and nails (with the heads snipped off) The hight of the pantographs is adjusted to within 0,5mm from the nominal hight, in tunnels the wire pushes the panto's down to the min. hight. All catenary hight above railhead and zig-zag dimensions according to original drawings of the BLS ( the layout started off as a swiss BLS/SBB layout). Jacq

Neil S Wood- 06-16-2008

Fantastic modelling Jacq, what did you use for the window boxes?

Jacq Damen- 06-17-2008

Neil, what do you mean with window boxes ? Jacq

Neil S Wood- 06-17-2008

Neil, what do you mean with window boxes ? Jacq Hi Jacq, in your bottom picture of the restaurant, there are flower arrangements outside the windows of the building. We call them window boxes after the box that the plants grow out off. I thought yours were particularly well done and wondered what you used in them. thanks Neil

Jacq Damen- 06-18-2008

Neil, the base of the box is a scale 6"x 8" plastic square part, painted white. A wooden part also can be used The plants are made from foliage ( Silflor, Woodland or Heki ) and the flowers are individual tufts of coloured ground foam, glued on with hairspray or Tesa universal glue. Put a bit of glue on a piece of paper, dip in the flower tuft and stick it to the green foliage. Jacq

Jacq, as this is my first post on the forum, I can only say that your modelling is first class & this photo is one such example,

Alan Rees- 10-22-2008

Welcome to the forum, Ron. I must say that I agree with you.

James Hockley- 10-22-2008

If I can get my layout 50% as good as your layout in terms of the quality of the modeling I will be a very happy man. Very impressive, I hope I see it for real on day.
