Photo DREHSCHEIBE. I have just found this picture, which has just given me the WOW factor. This really looks to be a nice model, but can anyone explain the colour scheme? Thank you, David

Hello David! This painting scheme is pure fantasy. It was intended to paint class 10 locos in a different scheme, but DB officials had been conservative, so that class 10 was painted in regular livery. Recommendable literature: " Die Baureihe 10" published by EK , Freiburg/Breisgau. Best regards, Wolfgang

Hello Wolfgang, Thank you for that information, shame, it actually looks very good. But if Marklin can make a loco that never made it past the drawing board, why not a possible livery like this for say the F zug network? (now I have opened up a can of worms). David

Hello David, not really a tin of worms, but it is true that some of Your beloved 03.10 locos have been painted in blue-black-red livery for "Gambrinus"-services. I do not know wich locomotive, but I wll try to get it out. Best regards; Wolfgang

David Ingram-Seal- 03-14-2008

Hello Wolfgang, I know that Hagen Bw supplied 03.10 locomotives for a number of F zug services. Very interested in what you can find out. Regards, David

Hello David, at first I can report, that 03.10 locos were delivered to Hagen-Eckesey depot in 1941, in order to support class 39 on Ruhr-Sieg line and the destination to Münster. Ther is a photo that shows a fully streamlined 03.10 at Kreuztal station with an "D-Zug" heading for Siegen and then possibly Cologne. I will try to get out more best regards, Wolfgang

Hello Wolfgang, Now you have really got me hooked! Class 39 2-8-2 as well. How long Did they last, operating from Hagen? Regards, David

Hello David, I can only give You a concise statement adapted from Walluhn s book " Die Baureihe 03.10": The 03.10 service from Hagen-Eckesey lasted from 1940 to 1944.It had been loco numbers 03 1047, 1048, 1049,1050,1051 and 1052.They have been delivered by Krupp 1940/1941.the maintainance shop was RAW Schwerte. In June 1944 all locomotives have been withdrawn and sent to Breslau HbF depot( not to be mixed up with Breslau-Odertor). On Ruhr-Sieg line they shared service with class 39 locos for Cologne via Siegen. The class 39 rested on Ruhr-Sieg-line up to 1960ies, after electrification of the line to Hagen, services to Cologne were left. It had been locomotives of Siegen and Dillenburg depot. The class 39 was in Siegen replaced by elder class 01 locos (like 01 008). After WW II the DB placed F-Zug services, several of them were hauled by 03.10. The locomotives came in service in 1950, after general repair at Henschel loco works and removing of streamline. But locomotives have had the old boilers consisting of not durable St 47 K Mo. F-Zug services by 03.10: Hamburg-Altona 1955 -F1/F2 Merkur -F 41/F42 Senator -F55/56 Blauer Enzian between Hannover and Altona The services ended in 1956 because of delivery of class V200 diesels Dortmund-Betriebsbahnhof 1953 F55/56 Blauer Enzian between Altona-Köln-Frankfurt F33/34 Gambrinus between Hamburg and Frankfurt End of the services 1956 Blue 03.10 locos: 03 1014, 1022, 1043 allocated to Dortmund "Steelblue" ( longboiler, engineer s cab, cylinders, upper part of the tender) in 1957 the fitting of 03.10 ocos with high performance boilers started and ended in 1958. Hagen-eckesey was last depot of these locos, last one has withdrawn from service in 1967. Best regards, Wolfgang

Hello Wolfgang, Wonderful amount of information to wet the appetite. Thank you for the time you spent getting this for me,Very much appreciated, I now have a role for my Rivarossi BR 39. Veilen Danke. Regards, David

Hello David, I have got some further information for You. to Hagen -Eckesey depot hve benn allocated in 1936 15 class 39 locos, at the haxday of this class in Hagen 1943/$4 30 locos have been allocated to this depot. The locos have benn withdrawn at the end of 1944 completely. After WW II non 39 loco was allocated to Hagen-Eckesey, they were replaced by class 41( the only real multpurpose loco). My father told me, when he was pupil in the early 50ies , he often saw class 41 heading express trains to Hagen or Gießen. And at least one 01.10 was allocated to Hagen-Eckesey around 1951/52 ( possibly (01 1074) , at this time fitted with old boiler and feedwater heater over the oval smokebox. Best regards, Wolfgang

Hello David, I do not intend to molest You , but I have forgotten one , might be, interesting detail of class 39 locos allocated to Dillenburg depot at the end of the 50 ies. Some locos have benn coupled with a 2"2" T 34 tender(like class 01), instead of 2"2" T 31,5 ( Prussian), but the small" Wagner- like" smokedeflectors were left to them, instead of changng them to Witte smokedeflector, like some of class 39 locos allocated to Jünkerath. Best wishes ,Wolfgang

Hello Wolfgang, Do not mention it, I am open to as much information I can obtain. Many thanks again for the time you have put into finding this for me. Anymore would be most welcome. Veilen Danke, Grusse, David

Hello David, thanks for Your greetings. I will have to excuse the way I write in English-it would have been shocking for my English teacher. But if you have any questions about locomotives in the area( or general questions). do not hesitate sending me a mail. Best wishes, Wolfgang

Wolfgang Strott- 04-07-2008

Hello David, I have found out something more about locos for F-Zug services. The first loco painted in blue-red-black livery , has been a class 01.10 locos in 1950( I presume it was 01 1082) Best regards , Wolfgang

Hello David, I have found some more details about the livery of 10 001 as it is shown at Your picture. this livery follows a suggestion by Krupp/Jung and it has been discussed during a meeting at Stuttgart in 1955. Best regards, Wolfgang
