Hoffmann/Conrad turnout motors
Does anyone know if these turnout motors are twin coil or motor driven?
Thank you
These are motorised. As you can judge from this review, their quality is roughly what you can expect for such a low price.

Aaaaaarrrrggghhhh!
I bought these as part of a cunning plan to use with Roco DCC which does not accept motor driven turnout machines-only twin coils.
Any ideas chaps? Possibly Peco low-amp twin-coil?
Tim
tim,
you can circumvent the Roco DCC problem the following way:
take a decoder and connect the point motoraccording to the constant light
circuit and use the function buttons F1 to F4 to activate the motor.
I use two motors that way in my narrowgauge part with a Rocomaus II
point 1 F1 straight
F2 curve
point 2 F3 straight
F4 curve
the pointmotors are fulgurex / lemaco

Is there any reason you can't use another brand of turnout decoder with the Roco system? Other than address ranges, I can't think of anything that would prevent using an NCE accessory decoder, for example, with the Roco station; it could certainly operate a turnout motor. As an added bonus, you can also connect pushbuttons directly to the NCE decoder so you can operate your turnout from a panel as well, then.

The solution is fairly painless, sell the Hoffman/Conrads and buy some Peco low-amp turnout motors.
The Peco motors on Pottendorf have last twenty shows without any failures and in 35 years of using Peco, I have never had a problem and they are easily available within ten kilometres of my home.
The Roco system (NMRA compliant) was bought as a system, each item is compatible with each other and I can upgrade to Multimaus without any change to the accessory decoders.
The decoders cost 50Eu and the motors just 5Eu, no contest really.
