Harz Question
I have been in the Harz area recently and was talking to an english chap who was talking about this ''really odd'' engine they had 20-30 years ago which was like a double fairlie loco which was normally locked in a shed.. Does anybody have any information on this ? Would be much appreciated as it sounds interesting
This would have been 99 162, which is indeed a Fairlie. Saxon class 1M, it was built by Hartmann (No.2648) in 1902, and withdrawn in 1962 or 64.
For details I recommend:

This loco was stored at Ilfeld near Nordhausen for some time, which is probably the 'locked shed' referred to.
