Fleischmann Profi-Boss
http://catalogz.lokshop.de/FLE/2008.News/image_23.html Does the 'new' profi-boss remind anyone of a anything vaguely similar made by Roco? Whatever the answer, it is a good indication on the future direction of DCC and I hope that the next generation of Lenz handhelds will be as good. Or maybe the next generation of Lenz handhelds is already here and they are labelled as Multimaus? Tim

The next generation of DCC will be incorporated into your mobile phone using a wireless interface. There are several prototypes already being piloted. It remains to be seen which manufacturer will lead the way with this.

The next generation of DCC will be incorporated into your mobile phone using a wireless interface. I really hope not - mobile phones thesedays are far too multifunctional to the detriment of their prime function which is AFAIK to input a number, wait a couple of microseconds & talk to someone - that's right, talk - not text, email, surf, play games, take (or send pictures). Each phone I "upgrade" to seems to have more & more functions & perform less. As far as DCC goes I expect we will see more wireless, more functions, smaller decoders & so on. Hopefully decoders easy to fit, in seconds & sound improving.

Reynauld's, a US mail-order dealer, has this description of Fleischmann's Profi Boss: Running, switching and programming – with the PROFI-BOSS you have got the complete operation of your digital layout easily under control: not only does the new controller fit neatly into your hand, it offers the whole range of functions and gives important information to the operator. The central, full graphic display tells the operator, for example, which loco is under control, how fast it is going, whether it hisses or whistles, or according to the ambient lighting, whether the lights should be on or not. Unbelievably, 9999 loco addresses can be controlled as well as individual settings (i.e. inertia settings) can be comfortably carried out. Alongside the normal running operations, including calling up the special functions (i.e. sound or lights), with just one simple key – there is direct access – into the menu to switch electrical accessories(e.g. points), displaying 10 accessories at one time. Does anybody know if this means that all you need is a Profi-Boss and a power supply to run DCC on your layout? Does anybody know what one will need to do to add another handheld? What (cheap) handhelds would work with this? Thanks in advance. Richard.

I wonder if there will be a new Lenz handheld. It has been some time since a new Lenz controller has been issued.
