Camlik TCDD Museum....a tour
I have compiled a potpourri of my favorite steamers from my last visit to the Camlik open air steam museum. Some of you already have seen them and the ones not familiar, just sit back and enjoy. General view of the Museum: We start off with the Beyer-Peacock Vulcan foundry, similar to Br 50 Has such a Germanic look that one can hardly believe they were built in Great Britain. Another Br 50 variant, the Skoda The KPEV G10 from Schwartzkopff The tank loco from Henschel, KPEV T18 Br85 tank loco from Henschel Sohn Kassel and one from the UK, the Stanier 8F and finally one from the USA Baldwin. Thanks for the tour Erkut! Turkish steam is fascinating, I am glad that preservation is going so well. My personal favorite are the 56.3xx loks, the "Skyliners" Skyliner That picture is from the Camlik portion of the Trains of Turkey website, http://www.trainsofturkey.com/index.htm I was always confused with the 56080 to 56116 class that were built in Great Britain at the Vulcan Foundry and the 56301 to 56388 class that were built at the Vulcan Iron Works. That is an incredible coincidence Paul

Hi Paul, Yes the Trains of Turkey site is a good reference for all. Glad you like the Skyliners, here is one from Camlik 56337: E.Baykal

Many thanks Erkut. Very impressive. The exhibits look so much better outside with a bit of space to admire them. I must come and visit Camlik. Does the museum operate any steam excursions ?

Hi Alan, Hope to see you down in Camlik. Unfortunately no steam excursions, sad to say this, but we have not a single steam in running position. If it weren't for a private entrepreneur there wouldn't be any Camlik at all. When it comes to preservation you can see us well below the bottom of list. I have seen what they have done to the Br 52 in your post and I do envy them. cheers E.baykal
