Book suggestions for K.PEV and K.Bay
I was wondering if forum members could point me in the direction of some english language reading matter on the Prussian and Bavarian railways. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Neil, to my knowledge comprehensive information can be found only in German books, that's why I am painstakingly translating some of them in Italian  Regards, Andrea

Railway Holiday in Southern Germany & Railway Holiday in Northern Germany - Davies W.J.K, David & Charles Not specifically about the KPEV or the KBayStsB but they do provide a flavour.

Hello Neil, I am sorry to interfer, but my special intrest are the former royal Prussian state railways-can I help you ? Best regards, Wolfgang

Neil S Wood- 03-19-2008

Hi Wolfgang, thanks for the offer. What I was after was a general history with some information on rolling stock and how the Prussian railways developed. Maybe something with pictures of the period of locos and stations. I have not found anything in English language and wanted to some reading to find out more. regards Neil

Book sugestions KPEV and K.Bay.Stb.
Hello Neil, the history of KPEV is little bit complicated. Even a concise report would fill many pages in this forum. At first I can recommend You ( for detailed scale drawings and many photos of Prussian locos) " Preußen-Report" by " Eisenbahn Jorurnal"(www.eisenbahn-journal.de) be it could be ordered by Amazon). For the photos and drawings no knowlage of German is required. There is another online Forum in internet "Länderbahn-Forum"-may be they can answer some of Your questions in English. If I could help You, do not hesitate. Best regards, Wolfgang

Thanks Wolfgang, I will go with the book, I will try Amazon. My German is poor but I can always learn more. This will give me an incentive I hope.

Preußen-Report" by " Eisenbahn Journal BTW, this is not one book, it is a series by EJ Verlag. You really need to look on their website and make some sensible choices about what is vital as the cost of postage is fearsome. Tim

I found that out the hard way when buying a DVD from Amazon.de. Normally with model orders I buy loads at the same time to offset the cost. I should maybe do the same here.

Neil, The Länderbahn Reports are also available on DVD for €15 plus postage. See this link for details. http://www.ejmv.de/art/590602.html It includes 29 reports covering Preußen, Bayern, Sachsen and Württemberg. They may not be as easy to read as the printed version but the cost is significantly less. Tony

Neil S Wood- 03-22-2008

Thanks for that Tony. That seems to be a good option. Hopefully it is PDF format which will allow me to put most of it through a google translator.

Tony Adams- 03-22-2008

Neil, It is in PDF format. However, Prussia is 11 reports with about 80 pages each. You will need a long time on Google Translator. There are plenty of pictures however. Tony

David Porter- 03-22-2008

Tony, How easy is it to buy this DVD rom? Did you order it from the website and do they take credit card payments? Thank you, David

Tony Adams- 03-22-2008

David, I actually bought my copy at Intermodellbau Dortmund last year. In the past I have bought the Eisenbahn Journal CDs online and paid with credit card but have not done so for a couple of years. However, I seem to remember that their website was not very easy to use. Alternatively, you can download the VGB catalogue from the website. This includes an order form with provision for credit card information. Tony
