Hi Alan, This morning I needed something to smile about, so thanks. Going to the www.modellbahnecke.de website which you quoted, and looking at the Roco section, it's interesting to see that Roco have brought out an Era III 01.10 for 219 Euros, compared to Marklin's 01 150 at 449 Euros. Note Roco's is also an AC model - funny how many AC models Roco are bringing out now at prices generally lower than Marklin! To be fair, as the la-*test*-('") Roco catalogue is still a couple of weeks away from my retailer, I don't know if the Roco model is analogue or not, or what type of special technological attributes the Marklin model has, which of course could help explain some of the price difference. But for many budgets the choice will be a 'no brainer'. Best wishes, Richard

I bought the Trix version of this last year Br01 147 and it cost me 230 Euros. I didn't pay VAT though and that was with DCC sound.

BR 01 PCM
Hi I was lucky and got this year one of the PCM BR 01 DB digital version with Esu sound for not more than 99 US Dollars from USA Factory Trains . a superb machine and it was for me a good chance to redo the machine into a epoche IIc DR loco. The sound and the loco itself is marvelous. All in all it cost me not more than 125 Euros after shipment and german custom fee. When I compare the price for an single Esu sound decoder, I made a good bargain :-).

The 39013 came in wooden box. Order by end of October and delivery in time for Christmas. I have order it. :) The price is 449 Euros. (Loco 399 euro, wooden box 25 euro and 25 euro goes to 01 150 funds - Total 449 Euros). See full brochure in PDF (Not English). http://www.maerklin.nl/producten/folders/Insidermodel%20BR%2001-150_2008.pdf PS I have both BR01 39010 and 39011 as well.

I bought the PCM 01 the other week and it's stopped working. First the sound became erratic, then failed. Now the drive has failed. The lights still work....I sould have bought the Revell static model kit, a drill bit and some LEDs.

Andy, check the plug between loco and tender. I had similar experience and on unplugging and replugging, the fault cleared

Andy Sohn- 09-06-2008

Hi David, I thought the fault might lay around that area myself. I've unplugged and replugged both that plug and the two plugs inside the tender and it's 'most systems go' now. Sound still appears to be slightly erratic, but mainly working. I think it was my playing around with the plugs after the sound failed that caused the drive to fail. I going to see how it goes now and try to handle it very carefully. It's at least nice to know I'm not alone in experiencing this problem. I'm pretty happy with the Lok for the knock down price I payed, but considering a Märklin 01 of some sort could probably be had for the RRP of the PCM it's not that impressive in my opinion.
